Voluntary Community Sports Leaders – Give Back to Sport!

Clare Local Sports Partnership has the belief that sport and physical activity should be readily available, accessible and inclusive for all of the community. We remove barriers to sport and physical activity participation by providing a fun, safe and enjoyable experiences, in a positive environment where the participants can fully experience the physical, psychological and social benefits of sport and physical activity. If you have been involved in sport over your life and have had a positive experience, then perhaps you would like to give some of your time back as a volunteer to help others get the same experiences?

Community Sports Volunteers help by: 

  • Providing a fun and safe environment where confidence, self-esteem and social skills can be developed for all children and adults
  • Widening community participation in sport and recreational activities
  • Increasing health and fitness in the community through participation in recreational activities

Clare Sports Partnership will help the Volunteers by:

  • Providing the required training needed for your chosen area
  • Training will include – Sports First Aid inc. AED; Safeguarding 1
  • Other training provided will be as needed for your chosen area – Children’s Coaching, Specific Sports, Older Adults (go for life), Disability Awareness Training.
  • Provide a Garda Vetting service
  • Provide the Leaders with a smart uniform and ID badge
  • Providing insurance and costs associated with the activities and the facilities used for the duration of the programme
  • Providing a dedicated ‘mentor’ for you personally

  3. Choose the number of hours you would like to give back to sport
  4. Email info@claresports.ie and we will take it from there.

 

Current Support Areas Required –

  1. Men on the Move – 8 week (20hr max) physical activity programme for sedentary men based in a local community. You will be required to lead some aspects of this programme (1.5 hour per week) and to also liaise with the Clare Sports Partnership. You will also have the role of ensuring that the participants know the timetable each week through text message, verbal communication. You will be reimbursed for any agreed out of pocket expenses.
  2. Meet and Train – 8 week (20hr max) physical activity programme for sedentary women based in a local community. You will be required to lead some aspects of this programme (1.5 hour per week) and to also liaise with the Clare Sports Partnership. You will also have the role of ensuring that the participants know the timetable each week through text message, verbal communication. You will be reimbursed for any agreed out of pocket expenses.
  3. Primary Schools Support – 10 hours. You will be required to assist the teachers in primary schools to implement the PE programme through our Sports Hall Athletics Programme January to March. This is a programme that focuses on the FUNdamentals of movement for 3rd to 6th You will be reimbursed for any agreed out of pocket expenses.
  4. Active Play, Everyday – 10 hours. The Active Play, Everyday is a training programme for leaders / parents of pre-school (0-6yr old) children. It focuses on developing active play ideas that encourages FUNdamental movement skills. You will be reimbursed for any agreed out of pocket expenses.
  5. Autism Activity Group – 60 hours, or whatever you can commit. The Autism Activity Group is run at weekends in Ennis. This is a fundamental skills programme for children, (7-18) with Autism. We need people to support a qualified Sports Leader in the roll-out of programme. You will receive Children’s Coaching Training, Disability Awareness Training, First Aid etc. You will be reimbursed for any agreed out of pocket expenses.
