Bike Week Events from 22nd June to 30th June

Family 14km Cycle-Tour de Burren

Cycle with Sir Bradley Wiggin at the 14k Family Loop as part of Tour de Burren 2019, hosted by Burren Cycling Club. The family cycle will take off from Ballyvaughan Pier at 11.00am on Saturday June 22nd 2019. Everyone taking part must wear a helmet and sign in prior the event. Registration for this event will open at 9am in the registration tent in Ballyvaughan Registration Fee is €10 per family (2 Adults & 2 Children) + €2 per extra child

Community Cycle – Ennis

Sunday June 23rd at 1pm at the Fair Green , Ennis. This community cycle is suitable for all ages and abilities. Bike check from 12.15pm. Contact Róisín Garvey 086-1043528

 Community Cycle – Ennistymon

Sunday June 23rd at 5pm. Start from the Church Car Park, Lahinch Road, Ennistymon and cycle to Lahinch Prom to enjoy some light refreshments back along the same route.The community cycle is suitable for all ages and abilities. Sprocket Rocket for Schools

Sprocket Rocket is a Cycling Ireland programme designed to teach kids the four fundamental skills of Cycling (pedalling, braking, cornering and balance)

·         Killaloe Convent of Mercy Monday 24th June 2019 (10am to 3pm)

·         Lahinch national school Tuesday 25th June2019 (11am to 3pm)

·         Kilrush St Senans National School Thursday 27th June 2019 (9am to 3pm)

All bikes will be provided and the programmes are free to the participants.

Sprocket Rocket is a Cycling Ireland programme designed to teach kids the four fundamental skills of Cycling (pedalling, braking, cornering and balance)

Learn to Cycle for Children with Autism

In conjunction with EVA, Ennis Voices for Autism, Clare Sports Partnership have run an 8 week learning to cycle programme for children with Autism in Clare. The venue for the programme has been Clarecastle National School with cycle right tutor Leroy Kulczynski. The final session will culminate at Lees Road Sports and Amenity Park with a 2k fun cycle.This cycle will take place on Tuesday 25th June 2019 from 6pm to 7pm contact james@claresports.ie

Community Turbo Session

All community sessions are free and act as a “come and try” taster sessions. This static cycling is safe, while getting the benefit of the cycling experience.

·         Ennistymon – Outside Supervalu. Sunday 23rd June at 3pm

·         Shannon – Shannon Leisure Centre. Wednesday 26th June at 6pm 

·         Newmarket On Fergus – Outside OBAIR CAFÉ. Wednesday 26th June at 2pm

Community Cycling Skills

John Paul Estate, Kilrush. Thursday 27th June Cycling skills for children will take place on the green in the John Paul estate, Kilrush as part of Kilrush Community Sports Hub This training is free and all under 12’s are welcome please bring your own bike and helmet. Ladies Cycle

Killaloe – Saturday June 29th at 11am This cycle is open to all ladies who have completed the recent Bike for Life and Women on Wheels cycling programmes. This will be the ladies first introduction to a cycling sportif. Starting at Clarisford Park from 10.30am

Bike Maintenance & Small Repairs

Bring your bike to Tierney’s Cycles, Abbey Street Ennis; Planet Tri, Killaloe or Leisure and Landscaping Kilrush to have any small repairs or service carried out, free of charge. Mention #activeclare to avail of this offer. First come first served.  Limited availability

Learn to Cycle

This is an 8 week course running in the summer time when the evenings are longer and brighter.  This programme will guide you from 0km to 60km with helpful tips along the way from qualified coaches.

You will learn all the basic rules of the road, how to cycle in a safe manner, bike maintenance, changing a puncture and the confidence to cycle in a group.

Open to women over 18 years of age, but there are some groups that are women only.

All you need is a roadworthy road bike and a helmet.
