National Bike Week returns from Saturday 19th – Sunday 27th of September 2020
Every year National Bike Week is held to celebrate everything cycling related. Due to Covid 19 Bike Week 2020 is taking a different format to other year’s but it is just as important. According to research, during the period of lockdown, physical activity levels increased to record highs countrywide. 510,000 people were found to be cycling regularly.
Companies Cycle to Work: We are asking companies to encourage their staff to cycle to work as least one day during Bike Week. By registering you or your company HERE with Clare Sports Partnership you will be in with a chance to win cycling goodies which includes a top prize of a Garmin 520 bike computer worth €300
Schools Sprocket Rocket: Videos of daily cycling skills will be sent to every primary school in county Clare. We are asking all schools to send each YouTube video links to parents and encourage kids to try each skill and create a lifelong love of cycling. All guardian/parents have to do is send in a video of them practising the skills to be in with a chance of winning a cycling helmet. Numbers are limited. Cycle to school: We ask all Primary Schools throughout county Clare to encourage their students to cycle to school during Bike Week, post to Clare Sports Partnership social media pages and you will be in with a chance of winning a 4 week Sprocket Rocket cycling course for your school free of charge in 2020/2021

Cycle Bus Hi Vis Competition: We are asking all primary schools children to design their own Hi Vis vests for their schools cycling bus, each school will select their choosen entry to represent the school and go forward to be in with the chance of winning 30 Hi Vis vests with their own design.
Leisure Cycle: Tradaree Wheelers, Newmarket are hosting a come and try 10km loop cycle on quiet country roads on Saturday 26th of September. Join expert cyclists, and get tips to cycle safety, group cycling as well as how to look after your bike. Not to be missed. HSE guidelines will be adhered too. Axa Community Bike Ride: Join us for County Clare’s first axa community leisure cycle on Saturday 19th September in Miltown Malbay. This 21km loop will take in stunning views of the Atlantic coastline, you will learn how to cycle in a group and there will be an opportunity for tea/coffee at the end. The Banner Challenge: Wednesday September 23rd to Wednesday September 30th is European Week of Sport and we are calling on all Clare people to take part in The Banner Challenge. The total circumference of county Clare is 440km and we want to collectively see many how many times we can get around the county during the week.You can CRAWL, WALK, RUN, SWIM, PEDAL, PUSH – you choose.REGISTRATION IS FREE AND IS OPEN NOW but hurry as places are limited. This is an 8 week course running in the summer time when the evenings are longer and brighter. This programme will guide you from 0km to 60km with helpful tips along the way from qualified coaches.
You will learn all the basic rules of the road, how to cycle in a safe manner, bike maintenance, changing a puncture and the confidence to cycle in a group.
Open to people over 18 years of age, but there are some groups that are women only.
All you need is a roadworthy road bike and a helmet.
