The Children First Act 2015 will commence on December 11th 2017. Taken together, the Children First Act, The Criminal Justice ( withholding of Information on Offences against children and vulnerable persons) Act 2012 and the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012-2016, represent a significant legislative framework to promote the safety and protection of children.
The primary purpose of the Children First Act 2015 is to put key elements of the Children First Guidance on a statutory basis. The Children First Act 2015 along with Children First: National Guidance for the protection and welfare of Children (revised 2017) will assist people in recognising child abuse and neglect, and in reporting reasonable concerns to Tusla.
In conjunction with Limerick Sports Partnership and Sport Ireland we are holding a free information seminar for sports clubs/organisations and anyone working with children or vulnerable persons in sport. This will give attendees the knowledge required to ensure that their club/organisation is compliant.
